Hi fellows that's a long while.

i'm rebuilding a 998 cooper engine (1030/hr 270/ported 12g295 11.5 cr, 3.64 dif on cooper s box) but have trubles with the drop gear clearance *tongue*

This come from the gasket thikness, I know we have already talked about this in the past but can't find the post, does a charitable mind have the compressed transfer case gasket thikness? *happy*.

From memory the standard gasket is 0.032" think. I doubt it would compress by more than .001-.002 given the fixings are only torqued to 18lb/ft

Hi Andy, still there *tongue*; hi graemec;

Gone to mini part supplier yersterday:
-pink chippo gasket is 0.295in / 0.75mm compressed mesured with palmer
-grey genuine pocket is 0.287 in / 0.73mm GUG701608CS.

drop gear clearance is down to 0 from 8 thu..

The genuine gasket is usually green?

Graemec,I'm used to use the green one but the only one I found today is genuine and ok, it's a grey one in genuine convertion Gsk kit, it does allow to set the gap to 3 thu with standard shims. thi said Please mesure so we can keep somewhere the mesures, this thread is correctly intituled and will allow to find back.
Gearbox and drops complete, going one the engine set up.. I have a geuine std 544 under the bench that is tempting to build a formula junior replica engine :)

Minispares pink gasket in kit AJM206MS measures 0.032" if it any help to you.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe.

Thanks Dod, pb solved, fitted two std shims with the grey one, and gap is spot on at 3 thu
