Hi all,
Has anyone used Br8eg spark plugs in a naturaly aspirated motor?
They seem quite cold to me, all though swiftune seem to suggest B8es for a road motor.
High compression motor 11:1, up until now I have used bp6es or champion n9yc, but this motor needs something else.
Thanks in advance
John

6s for road tune, 7s if its a particularly hot tune. I'd leave 8s for the track.

The best way to determine which plug is correct is to read the heat line on the ground electrode. To do that you need to do a few power runs. remove the plug and clean off the ground electrode. carefully inspect the ground electrode for a colour change, sort of a blue band all the way round the electrode. This band needs to be somewhere near 50% of the length of the ground electrode. If it is too close to the body of the plug, it is too hot and you need to start again with a cooler plug. If it is closer to the centre electrode, the plug is too cool and you need to start again with a hotter plug.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I once try some iridium sparks on my 1030cc NA , but the engine doesn't like that, about same CR and using 98Ron fuel, back to BPR8ES and always work great.

Try some BPR7ES or equivalent before going to something cooler.

Morning all,
Thanks for the answers, the ground electrode is greyish in color almost all the way down to the base of the plug.
So I'll try the 7s and see.

You can't just look at the plugs after you pulled them from the engine, you need to clean all the shit off the ground electrode and look at the colours of the base metals

I've used B8's for years with mega jolt. Even starts on the button when cold. Just don't like being wet, so once started engine needs to be warmed up not just started and stopped.
