Ive hand me new engine running for 20 minutes with a new Innovate MTX-L wideband lambda gauge and the sensor is dead. I calibrated it prior to running and for the duration of the run it sat at 22.4, ive just tried to recalibrate it and now im getting E8 error code (sensor failure). Im kicking myself i knew i should have gone for the AEM gauge.

Have you test the sensor?

I've recalibrated it in free air. Once he calibration has finished the gauge reads E8 1972 998 TURBO SLEEPER |

Before you buy a new one, test the sensor...

With a multimeter, if you have around 3 ohm between 3 and 4 pin, and around 100 ohm between 1 and 5 pin, the sensor is ok. Pedro Silva

If you can get an earlier LSU4.2 sensor, the gauge can be set to read that.

You need to hook up a laptop to the gauge and update the settings.

Also sounds like you'll need to change the sensor cable as the connector is different. Saul Bellow - "A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep."

Mine used to come up with the dreaded E8 after a few minutes of running. I ended up updating the firmware and it hasn't happened since.

Innovate have been problematic, long before the 4.9 even existed. Physically and practically they make good quality product, but by fuck they also have a lot of problems. Too many to make it worthwhile really. 9.85 @ 145mph

Just checked the sensor and I was getting 3.5ohms between 3 and 4, 102.5ohms between pins 1 and 5 so the sensor is OK 1972 998 TURBO SLEEPER |

First, as already suggested, reload/update the controller firmware - another reputation Innovate have is for their controller firmware getting corrupted. Then, the only sure way to see if the LSU is really dead is to plug it into another make of controller (one that is designed for 4.9s obviously) and see what it says. If it really is dead, the risk is the controller killed it so, although new LSUs are quite cheap now (esp. the 4.9s) you may just kill a replacement. But, back at the beginning you implied you have only just done this, so isn't it all under warranty ? Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |
