Working up the BHP ladder.

Hi Guys, haven't posted for a while but need some help. Spent the last few months rebuilding the 1380 and adding a specialist components injection system and full engine management. Doesn't seem a bad kit with most bits fairly straight forward fit etc.
Have been trying to start the fit this weekend and can't get any sort of spark. Initially set the crank pick up at 0.7mm and have progressively moved all the way to 1.2mm in 0.1 increments. No sparky spark. Fuel pump primes etc and runs, injectors seem to be doing something so assume the ECU is up and running. Using a KAD front damper with built in trigger wheel.
Any ideas?

Have you cut the extra tooth in the trigger wheel?

Working up the BHP ladder.

It's already there. It's a std 36-1 pattern

Is the sensor in the correct position for the cut out? And is the sensor the correct polarity? For the breif time I ran the kit, I used the sensor that came with the kit and the med trigger wheel and dns sensor bracket.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Also check you have 12v to the fuses

If the injectors are injecting, it's unlikely to be the trigger wheel and sensor. The injectors and sprk are all being initiated from the crank speed.

Check the wiring to the coil(s).

So connect to the ecu and see if you're getting any signal from the crank ?

RPM reading ? anything ?

The ECU may be live, your fuel pump priming seems to indicate that but unless it sees a suitable crank trigger it isnt going to do much else.

I'm not that familiar with the SC ECU (Typhoon ???) but surely the tuning software has an RPM display ?

That way, as Stevie says, you will see if the crank signal is actually being read.

If the software is any good at all, it will show the cranking RPM. It might not be a large number, probably about 150-200 RPM depending one engine CR, battery condition etc., but it will show if the crank trigger is working.

Then, if the injectors are actually firing (are you absolutely sure ?) it has to be ignition wiring or something set wrongly in the software.

If the wheel position was wrong you should still get a spark, just at the wrong time. I presume when you say no spark, that is with the plug actually removed, rather than no spark at the right time ?

Are you using SC's "base" settings for an A series ?

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???
