Anyone got an idea what needle should be in my Jreg MiniCooper?

It has got a K&N, LCB and RC40 nowt else done yet
what are the needles supplied with Stg 1 Kits?

Need to order one as my car wont idle due to scores all over the needle,
It's not vertical scores from ware, but big gouges out at the base of the needle, No idea how they got there only just bought the car.

More seriously, get it on the rollers.

I'd say a decent starting point would be an MG Metro needle, BDL (?) from memory, but that could be wrong.

I'm only after one of the standard profiles, it's only a standard 1275 after all
just not sure what the codes are
and the only ones i've got are Turbo ones or ones which have been fiddled with on a RR.

I'm not after 100s of bananas just something that'll idle and drive nicley
currently cos of the scores sometimes it idles fine other times it stalls and other times it idles @1500rpm

done a head gasket and engine seems in good nic, all the ignition stuff is tip top, I stripped and cleaned the carb the other day and found all else was fine bar the needle.

The car only gets me to and from work, when I can't be bothered to run or cycle about 3.5 miles thats all

cheers all

As I said, try a BDL.

If your engine is a genuine 1275 Cooper it has the same engine as an MG mutro, the profile is different to a standard 1275. try taking a good look at the plugs after run, they tell a tale.

Do a search for AC Dodd on whichever froum he's on nowadays... He's usually the best at suggesting needles.

try that for a rough idea of for a needle, just bang in your engine spec and see what it says :) Pretty sure BDL will be fine though as thats what was in my carbed cooper before.
