Hi all, I've just ordered SC's injection kit as they had a good offer on it.

To me it seemed a good idea,
simple
easy to setup
make changes easily
make more power
no hot starting trouble
safer

After reading this thread, its knocked my confidence in the kit.

http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.p...id=395643&fr=75

I'm probably opening a can of worms but isn't that what forums are for!

Being a track car i'm a little worried that the inner/outer cylinder fuel distribution discussed could kill it.

Has anyone on here actually used it on a higher powered turbo?
did you kill any pistons? *happy*

He changed a while back. If you search on here then he mentions it a couple of times but nothing too in depth. I think he was still getting good power.

Ignore that thread, it was little personal.

I used the SC kit on my road 998 turbo. It worked fine. My problem was I used it with Megasquirt (MS1) rather than the SC ECU, and the MS temp compensation was an arse.

But in all other respects it was great.

It has it's compromises and is really just an electronic carb. But you can get the fuelling consistant throughout the rev-range, plus you can get lean cruise etc.

If you want perfect fuelling across all 4 cylinders with the port robbing illiminated, it's not for you. For me, the only way to sensibly stop port robbing is increas the number of ports to 4; which is what I did.

So, not a mistake to buy it at all.

Yes, ignore that earlier thread. We now know that the risks were over-stated.

Port injection is complicated and requires some electronic and fabrication skills to get right. Get it right and it could be better but by how much.... we still don't know.

A bit OT but I’ve always wondered about using twin SU’s to try and mitigate some of the fuel distribution issues. In this case (and I know it’s a lump of money) but would two of the “SPI” units, one on each inlet port, not be a good solution?

I run fuel injection on the 998 turbo engine in the blue car. Should probably update the build thread.

Although slightly different to this set up with a jenvey and emerald ecu. It’s brilliant like you say hot starting not an issue and neither is starting from dead cold. Driveabilty is good too not that I’d driven it on a carb setup.

It's probably the worst setup. You need to time the injection like a port injection setup because each TBI covers one pair of cylinders with a narrow injection window but you also have more fuel traveling time and wall wetting than a port injection setup.

So you don't get all the advantages of either single point injection or port injection but you get the disadvantages of both.

Injection is a great idea, but with mysetup I could never get the Sc Ecu to work and when I say me I means the tuner that I use. I had a lot of difficulties including the timing moveing all over the place which caused headgasket failure.
I sold it and switched the system to a different ecu and have never looked back.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Throttle body kit is very very nice, the user interface for their ECU is horrid (opinion)

I’m hoping to either use Alex (thecarkitchen ex minispeed) or SC to tune it so hopefully it goes well and I don’t have the same issues as you Graham!

Sprocket, it turned up today, it does seem like s nice bit of kit! You’re right on the software though. Fired it up this morning and my brain fried!

Fingers crossed Nick :).

I also had the injectors swapped out for 660’s so hopefully it will cope. John said they would go up to 240bhp.

Have to keep.us updated in your build thread, be interesting to see how this performs. Especially as your car gets a lot of abuse on track!

Getting the SC to tune it is probably the best idea then there is no excuses. You have a strong reliable base of a car which is a great start.
