I’ve just stripped down a bmw head and need to pull the valve stem seals. They are on quite tight so wondered if anyone could shed light on the best way to remove them, or post some pictures of Their tools. I seem to remember Matt modified a pair of pliers. Thanks.

I tried modifying a pair of pliers at first, but found they were squeezing them into a slight oval shape, but they did remove. I decided to buy new seals, then realised how much new seals cost so bought a set of pukka seal puller pliers off amazon and yanked some seals from a scrap head. The pliers make it very easy to remove and re-install...

That’s a good tool, will get one sourced. The valves, collets and other bits certainly are more delicate then mini items.

These pliers are also exceptionally useful for pulling 6mm- 8mm hoses off barbs/ hose ends without damaging the hoses like almost every other tool does!
*hehe!*

I bought a kit for pulling/removing, same sort of pliers as above, when I did my Isuzu diesel head recently

Even then...the pliers were flimsy and seals tight as fuck !

What did help was when the seal was bent a little, get some WD40 squirted down into the gap between the seal and guide and then things started to move a bit better

When refitting....the drift in the kit to install them, bent the fuck out of them lol
Suitably sized socket worked far better...one that wont damage the rubber ! or it's little o-ring spring

The K ones are easy to remove with a twist and wiggle motion. Installation is even easier AFTER you use a cotton bud soaked in oil to lube up the stem and seal ID.
