Hi

Im about to start the mass renovation of my 1275gt. As i do not have the original engine I have decided to fit a metro turbo unit. Just wondering if anyone can advise on fitting the turbo box available from mini sport? I have one arriving tomorrow.

Are there any issues with these turbo boxes and will it all fit ok when i finally install the engine. dont like the idea of welding it all in, painting then being disapointed when the engine dont fit.....

Thanks

If it's the generic bulkead box there
shouldn't be any particular issues fitting it. Though you need to seam weld the joints on the box completely as they're usually only spotted together.

Thanks

Does it require complete seam weld due to the heat its exposed to from the turbo?

no, any structral shell welding needs seam welding otherwise its an MOT fail.

the other altenative is to get a modern smaller turbo and a stainless manifold from Fusion fabs
