Right I’m in the unique position of having an mpi block & a pre mpi head
So now have run into some issues re alternator mounting!
On the standard mpi head there is holes drilled and tapped to bolt on the alternator mount
Is there enough meat in the head to replicate this on earlier head castings?
Or should I try a different route

Trouble being, everything else is MPI setup, radiator, expansion tank etc. etc.
I’m pretty stuck for room

Also just because this isn’t fun enough I’ve got the little denso alternator 😂

Rough pic of current setup attached
Can see I’ve made an attempt at cobbling a rough setup mounted to the water pump and head
With a threaded bar through it
Think I should carry on down this route or drill & tap haha!

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

The MPI head casting is much thicker in the area where the alternator bolts on, plus you've got the temp sensor hole right in the way on a non MPI head casting.
I've plenty of MPI heads if you need one mate.

This was my resolve for using the Mpi block and mounting a denso.

Thanks, trouble is I’ve got the bigger flower valves and all the nice bits on this head etc :(
How much would I be looking at getting the bigger valves and compression ratio dropped on an mpi casting?

that lower alternator mount is beautiful, probably a lot to ask but any chance of another! Haha!
Where you running a front mount radiator?

Surprisingly not as long as you’d think, you can remove large amounts with it set in the lathe four jaw and then with a “ripper” cutter on the mill.

I’d happily machine another but my spare time needs spending on my own car as it’s been off the road too many years.
A similar bracket could be achieved with steal plate and a welder tho.
If your running a standard timing cover this idea would need some adaption due to lacking the use of the holes that I’ve used for the cps bracket which ties into the alternator bracket
Yes I have a front mounted rad and have considerably less space than you have with no bodywork being cut or additional holes being drilled.
