Had to fork out some big bucks on brakes...I machined down some £25 8.4 boggo discs to 7.5. Blagged some second hand drive flanges from Wolfie(CHEERS BUD!).

All in it only cost me £50 more than replacing all the S stuff, the only S items i am now using are the steering arms, they are lots stronger and standard.

With both hubs overhauled with new Timkin bearings and shimmed up ball joints all is looking good.

To eliminate any other problems the engine was removed and the LSD checked over, all fine there.

For the Stroke Association day if have fitted a 3.1 final drive up from a 3.44, this should give me aa 120mph top speed so keeping up with those big boys on the straights might not be impossible.

As for the body work i have "carefully" panel beaten the damage to nowhere near perfection with two fcuking big hammers.

Thanks to Simon(Morspeed) for machine work at short notice.

Fingers crossed for a trouble free fun day at Combe on Saturday.

JF.

You all want to take a ride in my mates MK2 golf GTi now fitted with a 20valve turbo engine. All the work is home done, very power at 202bhp on only 8psi.

The car handles like a dream with a top driver, a talent.

Save your money for the old school stuff, go out in a car that seriously damages the ozone!

The "mucking about" was done by myself, just the use of the lathe and to pick up stuff.

Simon works his knackers off trying do everyones stuff!

I know he does mate, only jesting..

Been up there today to collect my engine and the amount of work he has to do is unreal. Fair play to him I say, he's doing a bangup job under a lot of pressure.

Woohoo, I have an engine to build

*smiley*
