The next stage of the budget engine build for me was to start stripping it down. Well as you all know, the clutch and flywheel need to be removed. Anyways, i undid the bolt on the end of the crank, attatch th flywheel puller and off i go! An hour i later i give up and spray it with the good ol wd40 to try and remove the rust.

I come back a few days later hook up the flywhel puller and go agen. 45minutes later and it still hasnt budged, so out comes the grinder and i start yomping of lumps of old pressure plate. still nothing! next i try the blow torch and i heat it up till its glowing, nuffing! about to give up n pay someone to do it when i relise i hadnt taken the washer out from under the bolt! 15min later n its off!

I hate learning from experience. at least ill neva do that agen!

Ha ha, unlucky mate, atleast there was no harm done *smiley*

If you dont make mistakes you never learn, no1 does everything right first time thats for sure.

whats a flywheel puller?

i cant afford one of those, wheres the crowbar?

2 days later i went off and bought one!

i have been in engineering over 30 years and i still make mistakes!

like the cam timing i got wrong on my mini*blush**blush*

it does happen but you learn the hard way

still, admitting it to others is even harder as it dents you eago a touch!

most peeps like to keep thing to themselves & admit nowt!*wink**wink**laughing*

Always good fun taking a flywheel off!!!

I did the one on my new engine today and used an impact gun on the highest torque to take it off!! Still wasn't liking it though, took about a minute on huge torque. Its a good job its the college tools and they have a huge compressor for the whole of the motorsport workshops.

i once wondered why when i changed from a 286 cam to a 276 cam i lost 14 hp and found out my timing was out buy 13 deg oooppppsss.
