CPS gap correct and screen/shielded cable earthed correctly?

yes the gap is correct, and the cable came with the wireing loom from specialist components - dont know if it is shielded but if it is it should be earthed correct. Also i get a good crank signal and have a good spark at cylinder 1

Good ground and live feed to the ECU?

i measured the ground of the ecu and the coil - both seem fine.

Maybe it is just the set up, gonna bring it to the RR next week.

I checked the direction from the timing light and put it on the same direction at every cylinder. The question that came to my mind afterwards is: Do i have to put it on the wrong way around on two cylinders? .... since they are on opposite sides of the coil?

If it is the kind of inductive pick-up timing light that has an arrow marked an the "clamp" jaws - and only if it is the type marked with an arrow (not all of them work the same way, so not all are direction sensitive) - then bizarrely, yes.

With the Ford (or any generic) wasted spark coilpack the current flows in a circle - on each half of the coilpack, the current flows out one end and jumps the centre to outer electrode gap on one plug, then on through the head and jumps the outer to centre electrode gap on the other plug, then back into the other end of the coilpack half. That, in part, is why the spark energy is different on two of the plugs to the other two.

For a quick test, swap the 1 and 4 leads with each other at one side of the coilpack and the 2 and 3 leads with each other on the other side.
ie, with the two halves of the coilpack viewed with the coils vertical (the two separate coils are pretty obvious on the Ford one) swap top to bottom each side.
And see if the misfire moves.

EDIT - typo

Thanks Rod, i had time today to do some testing and driving and tried putting on the timing light backwards on the two zylinders where i dont get a decent signal and suddenly i have a perfect signal. So ignition seems to be fine.

I also noticed that after driving steady and slow through villages and so on and then drive faster and accelerate out of the village i have some little hesitations and then it runs fine - maybe the plugs are too cold and getting fooled?

Edit: running NGK 7's now

The first thing you should do is swap the leads as Rod mentioned. That will either confirm that there is a problem with spark energy in one direction or not. You can then consider what to do based on this information.

on idle i have a good spark energy at all cylinders now, so swapping the leads doesnt change anything. While driving i cant tell wich cylinder is missing out.

I noticed that at a certain point while heating up it idles really smooth - have to log the ecu and see what point this is. Guess the rough idleling really is more of a setup problem. Next week i am going to the RR.
