Always wanted a Jet black! My pal had one as his first car and at the time it was much cooler than my Henley Blue Mayfair!

How I wish I had kept hold of them all!!

Ive a Jet Black on an F, had the chance to buy it's sister car, an F plate Red Hot with a near matching registration a few years back but had to turn it down due to lack of storage at the time, would of loved to of had the pair.

It’s a Janspeed sticker. The car was sent to Janspeed on purchase back in 88 to have a few upgrades done😁😁. Sadly not a turbo conversion but the suspension set up and 1293 that’s in it make it a really nice car..

No Work on the mini. Rebuilt a R5 GTT and put it back on the road. Rough around the edges but great fun. Working on the house and more importantly the double garage has been turned into a workshop!

Hoping to get onto the Mini in the coming weeks!

Thanks for setting the ball rolling again Phil, sorry for not posting but to be honest I felt that there wasn't much that I could contribute with at the moment. I am full of good intentions but cannot get started with anything before having to start on another job around the house etc.

I have two Minis both are Mini 850s, one is a 1971 with a 1293 engine converted to Cooper S brakes etc, approved by the local equivalent of the SVA I suppose. This car is running but desparately needs a freshen up due to rust. The second Mini 850 is a 1974 but in the process of building the engine & transmission from 998 Mini parts, this car will have 8.4 discs and could be built as a turbo Mini.

There are plenty of stickies refering to how injection can be built / configured but I am not that good at searching websites for information. From what I have read on here I will need a Megasquirt, some modifications (extra boards) four injectors fitted to a modified multi point injection manifold. I know that I need a reluctor wheel and a camshaft position sensor, plus coolant temperature sensor, air temp sensor, plus MAP sensor. On the exhaust side I would like to copy Pauls double Lambda sensor setup because it just makes sense.

Trying to refer from bragging I like to think that I have a fair grasp on electronics so building a Megasquirt would be within my capabilities if I can source a circuit board.

Amongst my automotive treasure I have a Nissan Cherry Turbocharger, complete wireing harness, distributor, inlet manifold, throttle body and ECU.

Living where I do I tend to hoard promising looking parts when they pass my grubby mitts.

If anyone would like to get in touch regarding the above project then please feel free to do so.

Promise to try and post progress but it will likely not be this side of the summer before any Mini projects are started on, then it will be the '71 Mini that needs refreshing for its equivalent to its MOT in September next year.

Best wishes Tony

Best wishes
Tony

Definitely still a very very useful resource, I don't think I've actually posted anything but I've been gleaming information while i'm collecting parts for my 998 turbo conversion.

I still really enjoy reading through project builds, It's a massive shame a lot of the picture links are broken!

So, I'm a bit of a lurker...
Last year I resurrected my old heap of a mini from its tomb where I dumped it in a farm barn . The old metro turbo had been removed in the late 90's to fit a vaux lump instead. This was shortlived due to a lot of abuse and I removed it a year later to re fit the metro lump. This never happened due to a young family and work, so the car sat in the barn. Rats ate the interior and corrosion went after the engine. There are some pics on here somewhere. Earlier this year I got it back on the road with a temporary 998 with the turbo and ancillaries from the 1275. Not at all fast or exiting but good for a shakedown. I made some essential lockdown journeys in it , and although it has some very bad running issues, it basically all works, the brakes are brill, the dampers are shot and if I rev the nads of it, I can get around 5psi boost..... I have most of the 1275 machined an ready to rebuild, but I think I might have a fling with the 998 first, I've bought a cheap turbo for a diesel kangoo which I think maybe good for 70ish hp, but it is very small so might be good for low end boost.
The main thing I have done in the last year tho, is build a garage. No more open air lean-to ... behold the new centre of excellence! !!

I now have no excuses for not getting off my arse and making the dog eared mini great again. Some of the pics make the mini look quite presentable, but be assured, it is propper rough *smiley*

My A35 turbo was sold some years ago and I have not been near a turbo since - until I bought a BMW Mini Cooper S this month. Does this get me
banned from here ?
I am currently looking for another A35.

Sydney, Australia!

Ive been lurking more than anything for the past couple of years, flat spotted life meant the TurboMoke sat in the garage gathering dust and being used more or less as a storage shelf. At the start of covid i dropped it off at a mini specialist just outside of sydney to just finish it off for me.
Needed to buy a new turbo and will be costing a pretty penny getting it finished, but should be back in my garage making me smile soon!

Working on the mini outside was becoming a bit annoying so I decided to invest in a tent garage which turned out a lot better than I though!

The start of lock down meant I had enough time to completely rebuild my front and rear subframes which means when the shell comes back from bodywork it shouldn't take too long to get it rolling again. The shell was only picked up on Monday so that is still a fair way down the line but after couple of months of no activity or motivation the project is moving ahead again.

Bit late to this.

Still got mine. Working on it was painful last year having bought a house up north and moving 200 miles from the car. Currently it is with Alex at TCK having an intercooler, set up and some other bits done.

Cannot wait to hopefully have it back end of Oct; and fingers crossed it makes the journey up here.

I have actually got the car on the road and was hoping to update my build thread but haven't yet found the patience to host the photos somewhere.

Hi Guys, I'm still here, not given enough love for my mini in the past 18 months. I've not had it running since last August 2019.

I've been racing my mini for a few years. Last time out I managed to qualify on pole for the fastest mini in the world race. This shocked me as I was up against a v8 powertec space frame mini which is worth more than my car, and house combined. Sadly during the race, I managed to snap the bearing support from the end of the LSD diff casing. This ended my race early. This year has been crap and I've done no racing due to covid.

Exciting things are coming, I'm looking into carrying on where matty left off with his sequential transmission. I'm also helping with the Alloy block 5 bearing crank engine, looking forward to testing this too.
