What turbo are you using ?

It’s a Garrett T3...

Its an old hat turbo but still capable of delivering.

Do you have a target HP in mind?
The T3 has been used/still is used by multiple members on here with engines producing 200+ HP.
What cylinder head and camshaft are you running?

160-200 horses would be nice.... here is a spec of the engine from when it was built...

9 psi is your problem. I'd get it wound up to 15psi/1 bar and see how you go.

Was this a Benross made motor? It certainly looks like one of his well proven spec motors, so its asking for more boost putting through it.
Get that intercooler sorted and you will have a goid strong motor.

So more boost then.. I’ll get it back down to Neil at some point when it’s all back together. He said to me (when he was setting it up before) to take it away and get used to driving it in its current state. Well, now I’m used to it.....

You might want to confirm your compression ratio before upping the boost to much.
It says the block is decked, if it’s been decked to bring the pistons flush with the face your compression will be more like 9-1.
But I’m assuming it just means decked to clean it up in which case your ok.

Yeah I could drop him a msg to confirm...

Echo the above, a few small improvements,
a few datum measurements and checks and turn the wick up.
I used to run one of Steves heads and It was a nice piece of kit, and that spec has been the benchmark for many cars on here over the years.
