I was going to turbo my 998 but i have decided not to now, in my advantage, id like it to look as factory as i can now, even the gay wheel trims i think

So, the question is, and everyone on here seems to just know stuff! It was on a hs4 carb i think, if i take the dashpot off, there is loads of space to mount an injector. I have 2 spi units from vauxhall astras i think they are. I am thinking of getting a plate welded in to the carb that is machined to take the short injector. I dont care about mpg or the power of the car, just i know itll be reliable, and itll drive nicer than just a carb. After this is done, i can put the dashpot back over the top so it looks like its just a carb.

Has anyone done anything like this before? I know there is a guy in america selling a conversion peice, but he dosnt answer his emails, and itll be a million quid when it gets here probably.

Itll be on speeduino seafox i think.

thankyou

I've read on various forums of people attempting the same or similar but they've rarely reported back whether they've succeeded...

I would think the main issue is that fuel injection is normally after the throttle plate.

Whether it's port injection (which I do) or throttle body injection (just google for images of Specialist Components' A-series throttle body) it's after the throttle.

Modifying an SU your way, would be injecting before the throttle plate.

At WOT it would make little difference but I'm not sure how well it would work at low power or idle.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

isnt a standard spi like that ? i always seen it as an electric carburator.

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

thankyou really for the replies! i has a spi unit for the corsa here, and it is before the throttle butterfly. i hear also that the a series like the big drops lifted rather than the mist. It is an electric carb.

i know if i fit the corsa inlet itll work fine, but i dont want it to look from factory default.

For the price of the seafox also, mounting a crank sensor etc, its for free almost!
