Somewhere around Swindon

Is it still worth doing doing the 5/16 bolt mod between engine and box?

What would be the reason not to?

It seems to increase strength and reduce the chance of lift between the two.

I think Dave used to sell some uprated cap-heads and hardened washers. I used to run those.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I did it because a long established engine builder told me to!

I just used good grade 1/4unf bolts and nice sized washers all was good 👌

Never ever have I had a block lift off a box

Used to have a head that lifted on the dyno lol

But never a block off a box 😂😂

I swapped to bi-hex bolts the same as used on the jet pipes of gas turbine engines due to access on tightening.

I wasn't aware of this, makes complete sense. Will add to the list next time there's a need to split block and box. Always learning!

Why? How much force can there be between those 2 that it needs additional strength.??

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018
