Hello,

I've developed the idler gear death rattle.

Is it possible to replace both idler gear bearings from the drop gear housing side. In other words can the gearbox idler bearing on the gearbox be pulled from this side?

If you've got a suitable puller yes, with some the earlier gearbox cases with a lip on the inside it's the only way it will come out.

If you've got it apart check to make sure your thrust clearances are correct before diving straight in as this may be the route cause of your problem. That being said those thrusts are not exactly cheap
