New member here - looking to build a 998cc turbo out of my parts pile.

Hi folks,

I’ve been a long time lurker as a guest trying to find the info I need to turn a pile of parts into something interesting and cheap.

A few months ago I bought a GTM coupe with a 998cc in it which also came with a pile of parts which hopefully I’ll be able to turn into a 998 turbo to chuck into the GTM. I already have a gt1544 turbo and a nodiz ecu sitting on the shelf that I can use for it so I’m hoping that the only thing I’ll have to buy for it is the manifold.

I’ll start a new thread in 998cc section with a few questions I have. Hopefully there are a few folk that have built one on a shoe sting🤞

I think the 998 is well worth a turbo, whether on a budget or not. My build is not ideal and definitely not a shining example, but the programable ignition is definitely the way to go, it goes a long way to cope with detonation, particularity on a stock engine.
there is some good info on here, and at least gives an idea of peoples success with different approaches.

Unfortunately the forum is a shadow of its former self, but there’s a huge wealth of knowledge if you’re happy to dig for it.
