Running out of fuel after 8 liters mini van

So. My van has developed an issue. It runs out of fuel with slightly more than e half tank left. If I fuel up iets approx 8 liters to top it up. I now the tank has a pipe inside running from slightly above halfway the tank to the underside. So my thought was... Pinhole or crack inside that tube.

Tot test this because Impossible to reach it I set up the tank upside down and filled it with water to see if water leaks out. No such thing.

But can't think of anything else that would cause this problem. Anyone want to give there 2 cents on this?

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

Do you have a vented cap fitted?
From memory the van tank doesn’t have a vent, so this is required otherwise you get an airlock.
