With great sadness I'm posting to share the passing of long-time TM member, legend and resident cylinder head modifier Steve (BENROSS).

I was contacted by his son yesterday saying that he had suddenly but peacefully passed away Friday 23rd.

He said he would be grateful for me sharing news of his passing with the community he once enjoyed and gave so much to.

I'm sure all TM members who knew him will remember Steve for his knowledge, his willingness to help others, and the many contributions he made to the forum over the years.

My condolences go out to his family and friends.

If you have any messages or memories to share please post them here and I will forward a link to the topic to his son.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I was really sad to hear this news.

Steve was certainly a character, a very generous guy both in his advice to anyone, but also in his time certainly to me personally.

Many a time ventured over to visit him for half a gallon of tea and a few hours of tales.

Lots of folk in here had both heads and full engines from Steve, and who can forget a few of his catchphrases that took root in the busy days of forums, “it’s not the icing on the cake, it’s more cake” and of course we must not forget “THE RAT BASTARDS”!!

Sadly missed and warmly remembered.

Rest in peace Steve.

I never had any contact with him but I knew that if he took the time to share his knowledge you had better adsorb it and learn.

Own the day

Lowestoft, Suffolk.

I only ever had good experiences dealing with him, always happy to help and offer his experience where he could.
Certainly a foundation of the forum.
Really sad to here this news.

I'm sad to hear of this the day after I checked for one on his posts. First visit in years and now he's left. He made great contributions to the turbo world and will be missed by many.

So sad, Steve was such a legend, from his cars to his driving, his advice and help. Met him a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed his company.

Very sad news to be reading this.

I had the pleasure of visiting Steve a few times and it was always very entertaining, very very welcoming and I learnt a lot on every visit.
I probably drank 15 litres of tea each visit and had the best bacon rolls of my life.

Great guy and I dread to think how many people he helped out and steered on the right way with his cylinder heads, he is definitely someone that made Turbominis what it is.

Condolences to his family and friends
