Hey everyone,
My name is Cole, and I run Classic Mini DIY — a brand dedicated to helping Classic Mini owners work on, maintain, and enjoy their cars. I'm excited to share a project I've been building called The Mini Exchange (theminiexchange.com), a dedicated classifieds marketplace built specifically for Classic Minis.
Check it out ----> https://theminiexchange.com
Why I Built This
If you've ever tried to buy or sell a Classic Mini online, you know the frustration. Your listing gets buried on massive sites like Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist alongside thousands of Camrys and F-150s. The buyers browsing those sites don't know what a chassis number means, why a 1275 matters more than a 998, or what "numbers matching" actually implies. Meanwhile, our community is scattered across dozens of Facebook groups, forums, and general classified sites with no single dedicated place to go.
I wanted to build something like what VWTruckForSale.com did for the VW Rabbit Pickup community — a focused, purpose-built site where Classic Mini enthusiasts can find exactly what they're looking for without the noise.
What Makes It Different
The Mini Exchange is built from the ground up with Classic Mini owners in mind:
Mini-specific fields — Engine size, engine number, transmission type, gearbox casing stamp, chassis number, VIN, and all the details that actually matter when you're evaluating a Classic Mini. Not just "make, model, year" like every generic site.
Detailed photo galleries — Separate sections for body, engine bay, interior, and detail shots. Because a proper listing needs more than three blurry photos.
Regional browsing — Browse listings across North America, Europe, South America, Asia, and beyond. Classic Minis are a worldwide community, and the site reflects that.
Parts and engines too — Not just whole cars. If you've got a spare 1275 sitting on a stand or a set of Cooper S brakes in the garage, you can list those as well.
Free to list — Posting a basic listing is and always will be 100% free. We'll have optional paid promotion tiers for sellers who want extra visibility (social media promotion, featured placement, email blast inclusion, etc.), but you will never have to pay just to list your car.
Sold archive — Sold listings stay visible as a research tool so buyers and sellers can get a sense of what cars are actually going for. This is something the community has needed for a long time.
What I'm Asking
I'd love for you to check it out. If you've got a Mini, parts, or an engine to sell — or even if you just want to browse — head over and take a look. The site is still young, and the best way to make it useful is for the community to start using it.
And if you know someone who's looking to sell their Mini or has been sitting on parts, send them our way. The more listings we have, the more useful this becomes for everyone.
A Bit About Classic Mini DIY
For those who don't know, Classic Mini DIY is a resource for owners who like to wrench on their own cars. The Mini Exchange is an extension of that same mission — giving the Classic Mini community better tools and a dedicated home online. We're not a corporate operation. This is built by an enthusiast, for enthusiasts.
I'm actively developing the site and I genuinely want feedback from the community. If there's something you wish a Classic Mini classifieds site would do, I want to hear about it.
Thanks for reading, and I hope to see some of your cars on The Mini Exchange soon.
Cheers, Cole Classic Mini DIY
