been on the fast and furious night out tonight in my local home town, thursdays and fridays from 6pm to 9pm up & down the bypass beat ALL! who came in my wake i cant believe it ! well nearly all.......

my lad wanted a go at the mini in his 205 1.9 GTI with 1.6 gearbox fitted bored out ?? N/A

so we pulled up and set off in a straight line guess what? he could have opened the door and walked it was that good all
i seen was a dot disappearing in the rear view mirror he was GUTTED! hese been boasting for years .....lol ..now deflated.

its a standard metty only running 13 psi boost plus intercooler 8.4:1 CR, the phase 2 cam of course & clubman box with 2.95 diff & modded head,
i must have done the head right!

next was two scoobies ........................ now its getting daft on the open road!

we pulled in one guy who i know over the road has a 250 bhp scoobie and he had four in!!!

albeit 2 barnsley lasses in the back at 15 stone each did not help him! at all

we pulled in on the lay-by, it was dark 740pm ish.. straight run 1 mile
scoobie in front, there was another car just pulled in behind me ?????? could not see much at all so we went for it i was two up with my lad in

the scoobie was starting to pull away then i hit second then third just going for the kill!! we thrashed the car behind on take off hitting around 115 ish... W e left him some distance back untill i backed off

as i thought it was getting silly and dangerous

guess what it was another.............. Scoobie at the rear ........lol

good run for a 64 k motor on the bores and pistons on 13 psi of boost

i may myself have a bash now and again at the odd boy racer at the lights that wants ago but its events like this that will one day kill somebody(s) and will put a stop to modified cars being driven/ insured on the road.

with drag strips all over the country offering RWYB nearly every weekend it seems stupid to do on public roads.

save it for the track i rekon.

p.s honestly not having ago at benross, an apprentice at work goes to such events and it seems crazy to me

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

maybe the oldest swinger in town , but its sooo much fun ,taking the piss in the mini

I have to be honest, I will at times drive quickly on the roads on my own, but these days I won't race others, simply because I don't know what they will do, will they cut me up and then jump on the anchors, or will they swerve and clip my car? Don't know and don't want to find out!!

If you really think you are quick, go and do some trackdays. I can guarantee that anything you thought was quick on the road will be NO WHERE NEAR the capabilities of ANY car that you take on a track, after a few sessions working up your confidence and ability. I would hope most of the folks that came for a few laps round with me at Castle Combe would agree with that statement.

I drive a fast mini and a 248bhp scooby on the road, give a scooby an open road no mini will keep up, i can hold 4th gear until 120mph and fifth gets me to 145mph. At top speed you are not redlining the engine and i will do it all day long if only you dared!
