i am curently waiting for trading standards to ring me back but while i am waiting someone here might be able give advice

i recently had french doors fitted the plastering was pretty bad so i refused to pay for the whole job, the same guys today have been back even though last time they were here they said they were not plasterers, now again i fel the job is not to standard and they did not even use beading they tried to plaster the edges that now look even rougher

my belief is that because i have given the company the oppotunity to rectify the plastering that i now can go to another company to get the plastering done correctly, i have paid some more money as the actual fiting of the doors is very good but have kept back £200 until the plastering is done to a good standard

not really sure where i stand have just done what i felt was right

leeds/wakefield.

i think you should give them one last chance stating clearly that if it is not done correctly by a professional you will use said retention to pay a proper plaster , put it in writing and dont forget to date it.

yeah you do right wolfie, im in the trade, only skilled labor but if the job aint right dont pay. one of our jobs with the company were with is to go round and fix the plastering/rendering that wasnt done properly the first time round by the origional window fixers. it can be a bad job plastering reveals, especialy if its an old house or nothings square! but yeah they should have brought in outside contractors if they wern't up to the job.
steve.

doh! why did i start messing with it!

well trading standards rang me back!

surprisingly they said that i did not have to give them the chance to rectify the problem in the first place but its always a good idea as it shows willing on my part if it goes to court, TS said that i should now get a couple of quotes done for the plastering write to the company who installed the windows and give them the oppotunity to get a qualified plasterer in, if not i legally can get a plasterer in to correct the job using the money i have held back
