Valve guide boss...

Should it stay or should it go?

Been using the search button and seen a few without, and some mentions of just smoothing it out a bit (already got to this stage)

looking to run 1.5 rockers, 266 md, mg metro head, possibly with s/s valves

anyone got any opinions?

I'd say a compromise is needed between leaving some area for heat soak out of the guide itself, and enlarging the throat area.

I'm sure you know that on the turbo motor it is not as critical, especially on the inlet side. The exhaust side probably has more scope for improvement to aid gas flow out of the cyl into the turbo, but on the other hand this side is also a lot hotter, so could benefit from the area to sink the heat into.

Well I've resisted having any 'porting' done to my head, and I haven't had problems making power.

However, this year I am having the bosses removed on inlet and exhaust.

As Tom says, on a turbo motor I reckon more is to be gained from working on the exhaust.

I'm leaving it to Morspeed to decide how much to remove.
