Hey

I am going to be starting a turbo engine build in the near future, have been gaining knowledge in the forum, and through many pages of reading. There is still something i need guidance on. I am not going to be able to source a metro turbo engine, so i am going for a 1275 engine of the standard conditioning. Now how do i know which 1275 is a good one?? post xx' year?? Certain strength benefits in certain model/year?? Or can just about any 1275 A-series i source be workable?? Also i might not be able to find a A-plus.
I am shooting for about 140-160hp, with reliability and no detail overlooked.

Thanks Paul de Boer

A post '87 engine will definately have the superior main bearing arrangement - but this is easy to covert anyway.
Later (spi) blocks seem to be slightly more succeptable to cooling issues - but not in every case.
I'd just aim for a 87> Metro 1275. simple and sweet.

Yes i have thought about that many times, and i still may turbo the 998. But i believe i can achieve more reliability at a certain level of power with a 1293. But you never know, just might go the 998 route.

Paul,

MiniMania offer 'core' 1275 A+ engines with a 'satisfaction guarantee'. Basically - it won't be totally goosed...

Or there are plenty of other folks who can assist in sourcing one.
I'm assuming you're aware of http://www.minimania.com/msgthreads.cfm
It's one of the best - if not THE best Mini Forums out there IMO - obviously not as good as TM of course!

Thanks Dave, maybe buying a core 1275A+ from minimania would work. If i got them to give me a engine code, i would have something to go off of. Yes, i am aware of minimania forum, use it often.

Any other information you can think of would be appreciated.
