dont bin it, you can rebore to plus 20 thou so i under stand, some people have used them and i dont think they had any probs,

you can also buy liners from minispares for about £25 each.

but it is preferd to use non linered blocks but as they are hard to come buy now give it a try.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

I'm using a linered block. Will have to see how it goes.
Hopefully the liners give a superior wear surface for the rings to work against? Cheaper to re-ring pistons than rebore block.

I was speaking about this today to carl austin, both agree it should be ok to use, the material used in the liners is better than the block, so should be better. as long as you don't go any bigger than +020

Right i'll keep the block.

Didn't know that you could do anything with them thought they would be scrap when worn.

When reboring +20, will it still be within the liner material?

i've got a non-lined turbo block too which one would be best to use for a rebuild?

you can also reliner it i was quoted £100 for removing, refitting and boring the liners to suit which i thought was supurb, then about £80 for liners and hey presto new blockish.

i go along with the rest the liners are alot harder than iron bores, thats why modern wet linerd motors last for years unlike iron bored engines.

The reason hogster states above is the reason I used a linered block, as I have had other expensive mods carried out, so 'hopefully' if needs be I could have it re-linered without having to have the other m/c work done again.

If you had a lot of mods done to a non linered block and the bores went, then surly you could have liners put in that

Forgotten more than most ever know

Factory liner OD is 73,09-73,106 mm. (source AKM6353 factory repair manual)

So if you were +.060" (2.840") you could go out to liner size 2.878" are be back to standard bore

Or offset bore, fit liners and have more meat betwen 2+3*tongue*

ACDODD wrote somewhere that a linered block could be used in 040 form if it was a low performance engine.
