hey ppl am a newbie wanting boooost.im on a limited smallesh budget and just got a few questions to ask.if i got my hands on a T2 turbo and a manifold for it to fit my 998 in what ways could i then drop the compression ratio, that is if i need to at all.also would i have to upgrade the fuel pump aswell? thanks |

Check your engine number against the list on the Manchesterminis.co.uk site (under 'technical') and find the CR of your engine. On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

The standard mechanical pump is no use for turbo conversion, you need an electris metro turbo pump or something similar. -MINI CLUBMAN 1380 TURBO- |

getting the pistons dished could be pricey and would mean a full rebuild (which i would do anyho if fitting turbo) but getting the head ported out around the valve areas brings it down. as dave says check the numbers, which you may be able to corroborate wth a compression gauge if i am right (rarely)
