would like peoples views on the following brakes before i splash the cash pros and cons please and if it was your money what would you buy

Coopers s setup 7.5 discs and calipers

Minispares 4 pots (not purple as purples for girls) 7.9 vented or solid?

minisport 4 pots (apparently recently made better??? ) 7.9 vented or solid?

Kad 4 pots (are they really the best??? considering the outlay?? ) 7.9 vented or solid?

cheers

oh currently have single circuit non servo'd 8.4 setup that seems to work well just want to run 10's

Vented will widen your track by 10mm / side i believe...
I suspect Alloy 4-pots and Vented's aren't much lighter than 's'
Grooved 's' discs are pretty effective with the right pads - but it's obvious that vented stuff is better for heavy usage.

Fiesta calipers for a real budget solution?

By the time the 8.4 vented disc is turned down the vents are almost all gone.

TD is coorect the alloy 4 pot is only a little lighter than the "S" caliper, i done the "one in each hand" test.

Purple is all i could get, i had 5 working days to sort that car for the charity day!!!

I've got a set of KAD billet calipers which are yellow. These are not as good as the purple ones :)

I've driven Minis with stock 7,5" brakes which have been VERY good. I've also driven Minis with Minispares` four pots AND servo, and that was fantastic.

On my turbo now, I'm fitting the Metro four pots with solid discs to reduce weight somewhat. With the correct pads you will never overheat a lightweight Mini's brakes.

Fiesta sliding calipers? RUBBISH!

I used to have the KAD calipers with the spacer in for vented disks (7.9). I found them very effective for trackday use, but the pads I used were a bit hard for the road.

Sold them on now as I don't plan to use a mini for regular trackdays.

I personally like the feel of s discs with the late type direct servo. Will be using that setup and maybe using grooved discs when the car goes back together.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

I've had the last few cars on S brakes and i like them. 2 without a servo and one with a remote servo.
All have had plenty of stopping power when in good condition.
Currently using S brakes with no servo but havent had them on the road since the servo came off (same set of brakes).
Because ive already got all these bits that are virtually new i cant justify new 4 pots yet.

I used to use 7.5" Cooper S setup, with a set of Mintex 1144 pads and non servo they were excellent brakes!

Another recommendation I would make is to junk the standard rear limiter valve, and fit an adjustable one. As standard, the compensator limits the rear brake so much that the hardly do anything. By careful setting of an adjustable valve and some trial and error you can actually make the rear brakes earn their keep and do some useful stopping to assist the front brakes. Some trial and error will be needed to get them setup right. Also useful for left foot braking if you desire.
