I've got an adjustable version of one of these

http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=36159

It has a bolt in the end (it's got a wingnut on it rather than a bolt head) that is upposed to wind in and out.

At the moment the bolt doesn't move very easily, and wont screw in or out very far, but there is still 3/4" of thread sticking out of the valve. It's a pain actually cos it won't fit in the normal position on the subframe.

Has anyone used one of these? How far does the bolt screw in? I don't want to force it too far and damage it.

Cheers

it all depends how it's been modifed, the bolt should be pretty much finger tight, and held in place with a lock nut

No lock nut and it's too tight to turn by hand.

Maybe I should get a standard one instead.

It's for someone elses car, and she doesn't really need adjustable brakes.

I asked he what she wanted and she said whatever I can be bothered to do, she doesn't mind :/

Use a std valve I'd say.

The one you have may be one that has been bought, or it might be one someone has made. I have made a few of these in the past, it is not hard.
