ok have i cut this right ??? please dont laugh at my welding, the turbo box NOT ME but the rhd plate is.... unfortunately this is my first try at gas welding, i used a section of an old boot skin to plate it i tacked it on each corner and spot welded it in, then brazed in the gaps (no doubt a bad job) this shot was prior to skimming back :) Edited by Richie on 21st Oct, 2005.

looks alright to me, although just keep an eye on the seems when you get it on the road as there sa lot of stress on that point, did you weld both sides?

nope i was going to put small box section in there too behind the plate that is i can stil get in from the other side of the firewall if need be.....hmmm anyway of reinforcing it ? the shell will have a full rally cage in it eventually including front bars dunno if that will help ?

keh ?? please can you explain....do you mean drop the subframe out and take the rubber gaskets out ?

looks ok apart from the welding looks like you have plenty of room depth wise

yeh i cant justify this enough the chav i got the shell of has welded it with a stick welder (like you couldnt tell !) nothing i can do now except try and clean it up a lil bit and hide it 4 ever :)

whilst at this stage its advisable to weld in a bracket to attach your ultimate engine steady to and maybe stiffen up the engine steady brackets near the brake fluid resovoir no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

ok i have ordered me phase 2 cam form the good folk at avonbar. my block comes back from being steam cleaned and having the bores deglazed on monday, just a case of putting new core plugs in ! i need to get my center main strap machined down, does anyone on here know of anyone doing em cheap. or anywhere cheap to scource some arp rod bolts ?

in fear of sounding like a retard, would it just be a case of popping it in the lathe and doing it so all of it is flat, i.e to the flat areas where the bolts go through then taking a bit more of so it is all flat? |

Pretty much it although if you manage to get a centre main strap flat in a lathe you're a better machinist than me.....
