sure i asked this recently but cant find the post...

i just changed to a sccr box and was swapping the final drives over, the sccr box uses a final drive nut with a smaller thread diameter. Does anyone know where i can get one or have one i can buy?

I am fairly sure it should be the same, as the pinion goes on the end of the original mainshaft that you re-use, so the nut is the same.

theres two mainshaft diameters, 18mm and 14mm, my old box obviously was a 18mm as it wont fit the 14mm in the sccr box. i'm not 100% sure but i presume the A is 14mm and the A+ is 18mm?

join up on minifinity dude and send a PM to 'icklemini' he does a lot of gearbox rebuilds and may be able to help you out, as i'm pretty sure he's got loads of spare bits knocking about. He built my s/c box for me :)

you are getting the wrong end mixed up, the a series main shaft has a 14mm nose and the a+ has a 18mm nose on the first motion end of the shaft.

i have come across this problem once before weres the nut wouldnt go on the shaft as it was slightly to small the reverse of your problem and they was both a+ main shafts. some were down the line there was a small number of main shafts which had a slightly different size of the norm wether it was lager or smaller i cant remeber all i

this is a rere occurance but it does happen.

although it does help in your
cause, i had to swap over the whole main shaft if i remebered right to get over the problem.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

I'm still confused as to why you didn't have the right nut? As you will have needed to use a donor mainshaft to build your s/c gears onto, so presumably you would have taken that from a donor gearbox when it would have been complete with the nut!?

ah tom, you see I didn't build the box, and when I bought I didn't think to check it came with the nut, lesson learned.

i'll take a pic of the nuts when it arrives.
