Similar to mini....took my metro turbo for mot today needs both radius arms doing*frown*would it be quicker/ easier to put a known good rear subframe on complete,as I think the bolts are easier than a mini and I won't have to play hydro gas again*oh well*

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

broad as long bri

personally i would change the arms and leave all the subby and breakpipes etc intact and just have the suspension pumped up!

imho!........................some may disagree

I'd agree, you are more likely to open a can of worms with brake pipe fittings that won't undo and bleed nipples broken on rear brakes etc.......

Change the arms and then you know it is right.

I'm pretty sure the last one i did on a metro, i virtually had to drop the subframe to get at some of the fasteners holding the arm in place...

A real pain. When i realised this, i just went to the scrappies, located a metro with good arms, told the man what i wanted - 20 minutes and 25 quid later, i had a complete subframe...

Only thing different - is you need to undo more rusty (probably) bolts where your rear anti-roll bar fastens to the arms, and swap the bits over...

Also - i'm 99% sure you can't remove the arms without de-pressurising the suspension.
Darrell Cripps is well knowledgable about metro's (the shed on this site). I'll PM you his number - give him a call and ask him for sure.

Now you come to mention it Dave, I can remember at some time in the distant past helping my dad change the radius arms on a Y reg Metro (must have been a long time ago for it to be worth doing) and I seem to remember we changed the complete rear subframe and put a s/h one in......think that was probably about 1993 which would have made me 13....

Think I will do the subframe,as you have to do brakepipes to do the arms,Handbrake works better on the other one anyway

Plus the hydro link pipe is a bit rusty on the turbo one.the other has been changed to independent front displacers

got subframe of today, less than an hour

It has odd radius arms on it a flat one and a curvier(more like mini) one...Im thinking the curvy one is a mk1 and the other mk2??
