Hi! I fitted a stage 4 ish (37.5 x 30) to my 1275 mg metro last weekend, but since then i have bought my first turbo engine :) I was just wondering could i use this head on the turbo engine or will the CR be too high cos the head was skimmed before :S. Do special turbo heads need to be used on turbos?

Thanks guys!

Rich

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

in short rich NO

you can open the beak up in the chamber on the head providing that a large amount of metal has not come off!

you are going for any chamber volume above 21cc the more the better on a standard head with beak opend up you can gain up to 30cc mine is 28cc

all this does as you will know is lower the CR so you can run more boost instead of it deting.

this is not the full picture but gives you the rudements

i hope others comment.

rich if you want the cr lowering in the chamber pm me i can do this for you for a small fee.

I think with the large valve sizes of your NA head you may possibly run into problems with cracking between the valves with the extra heat produced from a turbo install.

Personally I would be tempted if you are going the turbo route to sell your fancy NA head to someone who is tuning a NA engine as you should get top dollar for it, and then put that money towards a dedicated turbo cyl head.

best size 35.6 x 30mm gives a margin of saftey!

stowmaket suffolk

i would go for a 25 cc head my self.

130 at the wheels is about 155 at the flywheel you may get it on 12 psi depending on set up.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

IMHO.

i would go for 35.6 race inlets 30mm ex & 28 cc in the chamber

this will give you a CR of 8.4:1ish
on stock 1275 turbo pistons

this together with a correctley ported head and phase 2 cam with intercooler 12psi is a safe margin.

130bhp will be seen no sweat!!!

if the engines set up correctley

Oh! & thats more than enough to bash some chavs!....lol*laughing**laughing**laughing*
