its a really horrible job..allow at least 3 hours.

the only way i know to do it is to drop the subframe by about 3"...this is to allow clearance to remove the rack.

apparently the haynes manual is a bit wrong on this subject too, exactly what i'm not sure though this is what my mini garage told me so i got them to do mine, looks quite simple though just an arse!

With a removable front you can remove the tower bolts, front and rear mounts and then just jack the front of the subframe up, giving enough clearance to slide the rack out. Don't know if thats doable on a fixt front though? If you got rubber mounted frames you might not even have to remove the towers.

Its only a bit of metal. If it blows it blows!

You will definately need to remove floor mounts and towers. Sometimes you can get away with leaving tear drop mounts in place but if they are at all old the strain on them will shear the rubber from the back plate, so you are best off disconnecting these as well.
Its a bit awkward but not that bad to be honest, have done plenty in the past. Take the TRE's off first before you move rack, gives you a tad more clearance when threading it through!

Near Daventry, midlands

i was planning to do this on a car a while back, till i found that the steering column pinch braket had rust-welded itself to the rack. Cut off job for me.

I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.
