Hi! I have recently bought a turbo engine and have started to strip it down, i have the head and all the turbo, manifold, carb actuator off aswell as the ebngine mounts, oil filter assembly, water pump, dizzy, clutch arm and cfly wheel cover off. Just wanted to ask, shoud there be anything i can look for in particular that might need replacing? The pistons and cylinders are perfect so no worries there but im reboring anyway.

Another question, what would be a suitable intercooler for an enigne running about 10 psi and what would the CR to aim for??? How do you mount intercoolers? Where do they attatch on on the plenum chamber? Also what would be more adviseable, a 2 core or 4 core rad?

Sorry for all the q's everyone but im a newbie eager to learn haha!

Stick 'Intercooler' into the search function and you should find all you need on intercooler types and fitment.

Both 2 core (assuming minispares 2 core) and 4 core rads are fine.

Just treat a turbo engine the same as any A-series.

No two setups I have seen look the same. I did mine Like this:

I wouldn't bolt the pipes stright to the turbo and plenum on a rubber mounted engine though.

looks a lovley install *wink*and iam i touch in envy of your intercooler

altough the air filter looks rather large! to be niceley critical.

i know that a green filter from mr avonbar will fit nice and neatley at the side of the pressure reg no sweat

as its cone shaped & smaller it also flows well in excess what we need

Thanx.

I put the filter there as a tempory measure as there is no room for the filter pipe because of the boost pipe and more importantly to try and stop it sucking up all the hot engine bay heat. But it still sucks all the hot air of the rad in, so I was thinking of building an air box and routing a pipe to the front under the bumper or somthing, in order to get a nice flow of fresh air.

Thats the plan anyway....

I wouldn't worry about that, with an intercooler that size it shouldn't make a blind bit of difference to intake temps.
I have my filter in the corner by the wiper motor and a fair size alloy intercooler and the charge temps are never above 20deg running 12psi, this is on a warm day, on a cooler day they sit around 5-10deg. I was going to move my filter but haven't bothered since i measured the temps.
