I posted this on another topic the otherday, and thought i'd post it again now I have some info from the company.

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jon.lee53/Products-Mini.htm

the setup in the link is based on a tilton setup and acording to the tilton specs the release load is 750 lb (dunno what they mean by release load.. anyone?)

Obviously this setup will be far to light for anything except a racer, but im thinking a similar setup could be a good route for turbo clutches, bearing in mind that a double grey pressure plate exerts something like 1200 lb? onto the thrust bearings (The same as onto the clutch plate), and a verto style clutch exerts around 1/3 of what is exerted onto the clutch plate onto the thrusts.

How do you know the release load is 750lb?

This is dependant on the thickness of the diaphram, and the diameter of the release-bearing contact point on the diaphram.

Biggest problem with that clutch for turbo applications is the diameter. Great for a Miglia, not much kop for a high-torue turbo.

I emailed the company for details, (Just out of interest)

as you say, for high rpm lower torque engines.

Really I guess I'm trying to prompt some one out there (with more resources than me!) to produce something to get round the problem of thrust bearing wear, But it appears you may already have this in hand Dave.

I'm aiming for around 1/4 of that! Which when you take into account a steel flywheel, 270 backplae, and grey diaphram run over £250, isn't too bad...
