Should make a cracking engine, I take it you are going to make the most of the head and fuel inject it?

If you have the budget to spend on a new-build 7-port head'd turbo, then you've the money to spend on an EFI setup IMO.
Wtih scrapyard parts, all you need is a £600/700 ECU - or a lot less with Megasquirt...

Having four inlet ports available, and then sticking a pair of Carbs on there, is simply a waste of time and effort. The ONLY reason to go for a seven port turbo IMO is becuase you want EFI. If you just want carbs, you can do this on a 5-port.

Yes agree with Dave. If you are going to the expense of a 7 port head it would be a waste not to make the most of it and inject it.

It's like spending lots on a nice snap-on tool box, and filling it up with bendy-spanners from a car-boot sale. A bit pointless.

so these heads will need a pretty big custom plenum! I presume some sort of over-the-clutch mounted turbo?

hey - unless I'm mistaken, it looks like minisport have done what AKM should have done ages ago - reduced the size of the inlet ports... (?Maybe?)

The plenum doesn't have to be that large - it'll easilly fit in the front of a roundnose with the internal bonnet release and slam-panel if designed to so do...

Still has three exhaust ports, so stock turbo manifold and layout remains.

Somewhere around Swindon

plenum should be 70% of engine capacity iirc something one of my neighbours said, he runs a local motorsport prep buisness

Well i'll go and see what the race guys say when i get round to having it all fitted. I going to need a plate or something to mount the injectors anyway so i'll find all the right info. And i will update the tread as i go along. Thanks

I've never done ay back-to-back tests on EFI plenums, so can only go off what i've read, which is usually larger than the displacement. That said, the Grp B Rally cars and older F1 turbo engines didn't look like they always followed this rule...

"Hi,

Ive already had a request from a guy who wants to build excactly the same engine,
I think it would work fine, But we are already getting 210bhp from the 5 port using the S.U carb so i would not expect a massive increase.

Simon"

Got this today from Morspeed. Seems somebody has been reading my other Posts LOL

wondered what you were up to jon, only prob i can see is the clutch coping with that power, then again this will prob be something special too no? even if you only get 200 bhp it should be more reliable shouldnt it?

So, if this 'person' is Giallofly, then that's FOUR different folks looking into the 7-port head...

I'll have a fiver i can still make a five-port run quicker/same times... *wink*

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

I've heard a few rumours about some people building 7 port engines... *smiley*

Not me, i'm not that rich *happy*

I reckon that the times will be similar but guessing all round driveability/fuel consumption etc will be vastly improved? Maybe track times rather than quarter times would be improved.
