Just built this engine, so could have introduced any fault!

When I start the car on full choke, it causes flooding and I have to remove the plugs and dry them out.

Other than that, the car drives OK. But is a bit rough untill it is properly warmed up.

The carb is was on my last car for only 6 months of use, bought from Burlin new.

If I only use a small amount of choke there ain't a problem starting it.

I'm hoping to strip the carb next week, and get rid of the bi-metalic jet holder.

Any one got any pointers on where to look for the flooding problem?

BTW, I have checked the fuel pressure and it is around 4psi.
The ignition system is all new.
The needle is standard
I did check the float level before I fitted the carb, but obviously will check again.

What else could cause this???

Choke spindle o-rings?

Get a rebuild kit and do the lot in one hit. That way you know the carb is mint - after the money people spend on engines, i can't understand why grotty old carbs and dizzys are bolted up to them.

Ok, will check the 'O' rings cheers

The carb is only 6 months old though, so I would hope they haven't failed in that time!

Sorry to bring this one back to the top !!

One thing I noticed at the weekend after my carb rebuild is that to much choke tended to make the engine wanna die ...

Now I am still fannying around with needles and mixture so I can get back to a RollingRoad and the car seems to be pulling nice at the mo. ( good old Gunsons Gas Analyser !! )

BUT

could this dying on choke be """Choke spindle o-rings? """

I did change these as they were in the rebuild kit , there was however 3 o rings in the kit that all looked the same size
The choke spindle takes to O rings ... Should they be the same size ?

Waffle Waffle

I think what I am trying to say is I paid no attention to what two o rings I put on the choke spindle
