I picked up my turbo mini last night and after poking about with it for about 10 mins, I think the fuel pump is fubar.

I've had a look on the minispares site and there a load of electric pumps on there. There's a few for around £40 and a high pressure turbo one for £70. As i don't have any cash, i want to know if the £40 one will do the job. Or if there are any other pumps i should be looking at.

It doesn't have an SPi tank and appears to have the standard metro turbo fuel pump.

You need the roller vane turbo type pump. The interrupter type are not up to the job.

If you're short of moolah, get any cheap roller-vane pump from a scrapyard. eg - mid 80's on vauxhalls, Fords, etc...

Yes a good point from Dave.

They're also found on Peugeots, Audis, loads of stuff. Just find one that looks the same as the metro one and you have cracked it.

As some suggestions, Mk2 Astra GTE's have one, Peugeot 405 injection models have one, theres a couple for you to look at for a start.

Well, basically - if you see a fuel pump that was off an injected car - chances are it's a roller vane. If you're unsure - ASK!

Just one thing, i fitted a fuel pump from the scrappy off a BMW. The car ran fine for a while, then began flooding causing the engine to cut out. I checked the fuel pressure on the regulator and it fluctuated on the gauge by some 3-4psi when on tickover.
I'm guessing the fuel pump may have been to a high a pressure and had stretched the diaphragm in the reg ?
I fitted a proper Metty pump and a spare reg & it's been fine all year.

That again is why you definately need a 5/6mm restrictor at the entry to the regulator.

We always find at Avonbar that the scrapyard pumps don't work. The amount of people that ring us up with running problems on there TM's is because of this. Well what Turbo phil said really. They change to a metro one and a new reg and 70% of the time it's spot on. There must be another roller vane pump out there that works 100% like the metro one but we are yet to find it! I know it cost a bit of money but once it's on, You know it's going to be right.

My reason for asking was that the SPi pumps that a number of people use seem to run fine. I don't know that pressure and flow the pump needs to be to keep the reg happy.
