Yes, how about a donation from Avonbar towards the running cost of the site for the free advertising??

Interesting comments from the guys... We already get a discount from Avonbar, and if that discount includes pistons, then that's a suitale arrangement IMO.

I do like the look of these pistons. Nice thick top land, full skirt, nice deep dish, etc...

it is a bit of free advertising but to be honest i dont see a problem with it as these pistons may be of interest of a lot of people on this forum. *smiley*

when i first started turboing my mini, before this forum was around, ian at avonbar was always happy to help with free advise over the phone*smiley*

Edited by Carl on 25th Nov, 2005.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

All fair comments, it was just a thought, as I know how much it costs to host this site every month......

For the record Ian at Avonbar has been very very helpful with advice to me in the past as well, hence I returned the favour by spending a considerable amount of £££ with him!

TOP MAN! ian

Keep up the good work!*wink*

Avonbar as we know is the only "comprehensive" company who specializes in the “A” series Turbo market!

long may the company Continue! 99% of my money will now!
be spent with him !

this small touch of advertising is welcome in my book.*happy*

like tom says good advice comes free! from avonbar.

On the note of running this website ALEX B, it does cost him a considerable amount each year to run this site with payment to the server company.

some money will be posted to alex from me shortly. *happy*
a few quid more from us all wont go a miss!*wink**smiley*

Why? Because I do not need forged pistons, especially not in a road engine, which mine are.

Ahhh fair play. Forged pistons aren't just for racing they can be used for the road and aid reliability. With cast pistons if you get a mixture or ignition problem or a combination of the two they are fine until it a certain point were to much heat is involved then they just disappear. Forged pistons are far more stable when you have a mixture/ignition problem because of the manufacturing process and heat treatment.

I'm aware of this, but....

As far as I know, forged pistons need more skirt clearance than cast ones. This means after 250 heat cycles (compared to 20 on a racer) the pistons slop about from cold, wearing themselves out. Isn't this correct?

I also believe the (not that we like talking about them) Vauxhall XE ran forged pistons as standard...

Yeh....They don't flop about anymore! Due to the latest heat treatment they don't 'Pant' as much as they used to. On some non-A full race engines with slipper pistons you might give an extra 1/2 thou clearance.

all i can say is well done to ian at AVONBAR!

AVONBAR is forging! ahead

with new products & innovations for our A series Mini Turbos.

these pistons are the best uptodate! IMHO produced for the humble A series Turbo.
