Another good day in the garage.

Got the coolant piping to invent, and intercooler pipes, and mount the turbo. then boom!

Big thanks to Bud666 for his graft and Doodmeister for the engine crane

*happy*

Pic of the turbo in situe, there is more room to be had because i hadnt fitted the engine steady at this point.

Here is the relocated actuator

All nice and shiny - but aren't those pistons a little flat for a turbo????

No bulkhead box are you using a T2?

Yes, using a t2 or t25 colas.

Dave, the pistons are flat top omegas that sit down the bore, Simon has decked the block to suit, bringing the cr to about 8-1.

Waits for everyone to start shouting about squish .......... *tongue*

Don't really know for sure until someone tries do we?!

One comment, that clutch release arm looks seriously bent! If I were you I'd inspect the ball on the end in comparison with a new one, OK the bend "fixes" the problem, but it does not correctly replace the worn parts causing the problem in the first place!

That clutch arm is about £7 from Minits last time I bought one.

the ball is fine dude hardly any wear on it, but its a new plunger and release bearing and slave/master/braided line.

We reckon that they must have made 2 different pre-verto arms as a couple of our mates are also running arms the same as that that appear to have been bent, trouble is they're all bent to the same angle/same place etc. i'm really miffed by it to be honest as its too much of a coincidence for em all to have been home brewed exactly the same as each other.
but if it does give us any problems like you say its only £7 for a new un :)

Yeah, like bud said, its a manufactured part. I've seen a few of them now, have no idea why they made 2 different ones, when its bled and setup ill see how it operates :)

is that right? you dont need a bulkhead cut out for a t2?

I seriously doubt it!

it all seems to be going really easy so far. i was expecting loads of grief making up oil drains and swapping the actuator over and stuff but its all been plain sailing.

hats off to mirage for the kit, its a piece of art :)

Personally although its not hard, I find the plumbing the most time consuming bit, especially when you are trying to do it and make it look neat etc........

I'm really interested to see how this runs with the pistons being down the bores.

I heard a lot about squish when I was trying to work out how the lower the CR with the 8 port head. I believe there was an 8 port turbo mini racer that ran quite successfully with that setup.

Keep us posted :)

Not sure if its mk1 or 2, but its a non-turbo rad

The turbo one is slightly thinner and the oulet pipes are better placed.
