by removing the "bottleneck" it should have a performance increase...the way i see it, it should stop exhaust gases backing up and stalling the turbo just imho though i have never tested it, but anything that allows the engine to breathe better has to be worthwhile, normally the case with N/A stuff, but i am new to turbo`s

Area of stock eblow is (guess) 42mm ID Area = (PiD^2)/4 = 1385mm^2 Open it out to 47mm... Area = (PiD^2)/4 = 1735mm^2 1735/1385=1.253 ie a change of 5mm on diameter = a 25% increase in flow potential... My elbow was modified over winter 2002/2003, kept it to myself though Now everyone's doing it! ps - sorry for your post looking like i've edited it Nigel - i pressed edit instead of quote!!! Yes I see what you mean, however I am talking of casting the elbow and for that matter the exhaust manifold as well, I guess the downpipe could be welded onto it after all the ops are done.
Thanks

would you not end up with stress fractures down the exhaust pipe, with it being solid...vibrations etc etc.

MRA it would be nice to do away with the flange on the T3 elbow where the down pipe couples to.
