There have been at least 2 thread recently discussing 998 turbo cam options.

Suggest you need to look on there and gather some information and thoughts together.

Then you need to make a desicion for yourself, as I said when we started this section, if going down the 998 turbo route, you WILL have to make your own desicions, as there are not hard and fast answers as yet as to what works and what doesn't.

No point buying a turbo oil pump as it won't fit on a 998 block. Well not without some machining so you can bolt it on, and then you'd need a spacer so the cam fits in.

Up till now I've just been using a Minispares 998 comp pump, which seemed ok.

The new engine will have a pump supplied by Morspeed which is used on his seven engines. I'm assured it has the same capacity as a turbo pump.

Probably worth spending the money.

but your '998' from morspeed is a short stroke in a 1275 block right?

So a turbo pump will fir straight on?

Ahhh.

Then the 1207 is even more interesting. Would the BMW head fit on such a block?

I'm thinking natasp not turbo.

The 24 hour 998 - which will be started any day now, where I have a low milage std 998 engine, std apart from a stock 12G295 head, which will get the intended 1207cc turbo conversion bits etc, and taken up to the ex Nolan Pitts RR in Plymouth to see how far you can take it before it goes bang on stock internals....:) and how much it produces on a sensible 10 psi. Place your bets!

i am very intrested in how this goes. could you possibly post a thread of the build with pics so we can track your build please mate. i think that it would help others emensly as they would have some sort of idea where to start.

what sort of spec are you gonna be building it to then? cos u said you will be keeping the stock internals but with the 1207 conversion parts so what parts are being changed is it just the head with the carb and turbo with manifolds being changed over?

The 24 hour 998 is going to be stock, untouched motor with the metty turbo inlet, carb, ex man, T3, megajolt, maniflow system with downpipe and a stock 12G295 head to lower the CR and a new oil pump. This will be RR tested with 8 psi using a monty actuator.

Then i am adding the intercooler, benross magic elbow and upping the boost to insane levels to see where we get to. Then going to port the head, (actually swap on my spare ported head) and test again.

Im really interested in this.

Ive pretty much decided this is what im gonna do this summer, as I have loads of decent, but untill now useless 998s lying about, and it would be a year or 2 untill I could afford to build up a decent big bore turbo.

Plus my aim was to eventually hillclimb it, and from what Ive read in other threads a 998T should be a more competitive car.

I think ive now got most bits ready for the conversion, bar the fuel pump, reg and a suitable head to lower the compression, from other threads etc, I understand the 12g295 is the best for this ( ? ), so will keep my eyes peeled.

How far off are you from testing it? and good luck!
