I'm toying with the idea of fitting 8x13 rather than 7x13s on the TT2. And I need to make a decision before deciding on what arches to fit. Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

My thought would be it depends what you are going to do with the offset, if you go an inch wider, and all on the outside of the wheel, it may upset the balance of the car and make it a pig to drive. If you can get that extra width inset, then it may be worth trying.

That's an interesting thought. What is the typical offset of 8" wheels gennerallly supplied to fit Minis.

i had a set of 13x8 wellers a while ago with slicks on. From the mounting face they were 5" to the outer rim, and 4" to the outer rim on the inside. they fouled the inner arch pretty badly aswell. On 20th Oct, 2015 Tom Fenton said:

i'd have thought 10's were the way to go. If i could afford the brake convo that's what i'd do.

Lets not get into the whole 10s or 13s argument. We run 13s and are competitive with people running 10s. I would like to weigh a like for like wheel & tyre in 10s and 13s though to see the difference though, I suspect not much in it as there is more wheel in the 13, but less tyre.

I've got a set of MB.s with Miglia rubber. They weight 6-7kgs. I've NEVER weighed a 13" como lighter than 13kgs...

Yep reckon we could save 4kgs a corner (our wheels and tyres weigh 11kgs each).

13x7 wil i can assure you 8s will foul the inner arch 7s and they still catch on the inner on full lock! just.

I agree that 10s are always going to be lighter, but I would like to do a like for like test. Our wheels are heavy anyway, I just think that if you could get a miglia wheel in a 13 and put the same make and model tyre on the wheels what would be the differance?

Nope, not much understeer. It is very balanced. Liftoff oversteer is about right for me, other prople would like it a bit livelier. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

Well our slicks are crossplys so in theory they have very stiff side walls but we only run them at 15psi. And they drive beautifully, really progressive on the limit.
