has any one fitted an electric water pump ? |

oh i forgot to mention you can also get a controller for you electric pump , that will increase or decrese the pump speed depending on engine temp, and fits in the dash

i can not say anything about theory , all i know is in practice they work great!! Edited by minimark on 13th Feb, 2004. Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

I had a renault clio 16v ,and there was an electric water pump on it .

I've used one on my Mini for a couple of years now, also using the electronic control box to regulate pump speed. Seems to work well.

Nothing on the market uses an eectric water pump (yet) they are just not durable enough...

Clio and R19 16v and all V6 Vauxhalls use the pump as a 'run on' after the engine is swithched off.

don't know the flow of the unit used on renaults but I think that a "run on " after engine switch of, can be a very good thing on a mini turbo as a lot of heat still need to be dissiped ( the turbo bearings will like a lot .

just a thought to people putting electric pumps on road cars is it worth the hassle i was just thinking about the alternator drive belt cooling fan etc
no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

I was chatting to Mike Barratt about these. he said the pumps are really good but the controllers seem to have faults, or atleast the ones he had seen seem to. He does see a lot of cars. He said just have it come on with your ignition so thats what im doing.
