hi all, i havent been here in a while,

So first of all how are you ? hope you are all ok,

ive just bought myself a new project and have a few questions.
ive bought a mini clubman with a 1400 8 valve k series rover engine and have a 16 valve version to go in.
I was thinking about going the turbo route on this, do you think this would be a good move as far as performance is concerned ?and was wondering how i should go about it, im not after huge boost which is why im thinking of using a t2 or t2.5 and am planning on making a conversion plate for the manifold to go onto the turbo like jimster has done for the a series. that is already being designed by me. but my next point which brings me onto the questuion is, what should i do about the compression ratio on it ? im unsure if any pistons are available for this engine that have a different size for a different compression ratio. Please dont laugh at me for saying this but, ive also heard about the use of 2 head gaskets being used, but im unsure about weather or not this is a good idea, please could you tell me your oppinions about this.

sorry for such a confuseing post

Cheers all
Dave *smiley*

p.s. pics of my project are here :

Hi,
about the 16 v conversion, I'm not sure but think you'll need the pistons one,
about the turbo , an adaptor plate , will be good,
and about the comp ratio , you should lower it to 9; 9.5 ; depend of the boost and intercooling, I would advise to cut a piston to know the crown heigh and then you can know how you can dish them;
an other option can be to compare the bore with others turbo bores and look for the pin heigh and diam,( Im thinking of fiat uno turbos and renaut gt turbos)

why not keeping the 8 v cyl head
is it an efi or a carb one , if it is an efi , is it an mpi spi one?
cheers

nothing to do with the question your asking, sorry, but just curious how much you paid for it?

some may consider this a bodge, but if the k series uses multi layer metal gaskets like the pug/citroen TU series engines then you can double up gaskets to lower compression. Theres alot of supercharged and turbo'd 106's and saxos going about whith this and no head gasket failures that i know of.

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

I saw this on another forum might be worth considering, check out the bit about the rs turbo on a k series!

i dont fink youll be able to put two head gaskets on as they are made of aly and have rubber bonded on to seal the various parts and they are very prone to head gaskets blowing so research turboing one as much as possible.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.
