Is big best ie: 36 / 32 valves, what about sacrificing inlet in pursuit of exhaust flow, such as 35 / 33 or even more. Is an aspirated top notch race head with turbo exhaust valves fitted a good choice?

it is not mandatory to have turbo valves, also N/A heads are ported differently to forced induction ones, remember also that compression needs to be low for forced induction :) i have a full works longman head but it 8nt no good for me turbo as its high compression

newcastle

all about the same , each has different claims ..all top runners using different heads and valve combinations

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

As an example:
My head is one I did myself around 5 years ago.
Fully opened chambers and opened up around the guides.
I tweaked it a little more around the guides in the 2002/3 rebuild, but its still running stock exhausts and MG inlets.

Inlet and exhaust ports are near enough standard - maybe 1mm bigger in each direction - but no more than that.

The head is basically an amateur build; but works. Maybe if i spent £600 id be able to knock 1/10th off my 1/4 time with a super whippy-whoppy head ?
Bollox to that. Not money well spent IMO.

my engine at present stands me around 800, that includes the orgional engine (stock) all me bucks have gone into the gearbox and bottom end and drop gears. i have bought phase 2 cam had me elbow opened up, and intend to have my head modded, also intend to use 8 psi actuator so i recon if i budget another 400 on the engine to be safe. just me though. my engine is at the bottom of the fast sod scale on here :)

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

My build so fair is at £2300, that includes the box as well but i bought some bits second hand.
I reckon £3500 would be about right for a full build if you built it yourself including good turbo, manifolds, mapped ignition etc.
I reckon thats roughly where mine will come in. I had my engine built for me though but a lot of parts were second hand so i reckon it cost about as much as the machining/parts bill.
I did it this way due to a lack of time! struggling for time to put the bloody thing in!
