Got my eye on this one as a christmas pressie for myself. :)

Looking at it though, it would need the pressure reg, fuel pump, air filter pipe etc so even if it goes for a sensible price (<£300) then it could work out quite expensive :(

Why is the gearbox gold if its low milage it would surely be the same colour as the engine eg black.

It might be a gold seal box.... as in remanufactured by rover.

I'd be asking some questions before purchasing!

Std motor low milage but a reman box etc the whole thing looks a bit sus to me.

Hi, What I can tell you is after the engine was removed from the car it was borrowed for about a week by a colleague of mine to put into his mini to so that he could make sure of the fit Etc. while his own engine was being built,at no time was it ran. The same guy uses a forum for turbo minis which is why he told me it was worth selling. The gearbox is gold because I believe this means it is a recon unit? Maybe that forum might hold some answers. One thing I forgot to point out is this is a complete engine so it includes the fuel reg., fuel pump, etc. needed for mini fitment. Sorry I can't be more helpful to you but I hope that what I told you answers some questions. If there's anything else just ask.

rover did make replacement boxes and the later ones were gold as per Alexf`s comment. i have had a few gold seal ones. mind u it could have easily been painted with gold laquer of course

Well - It's worth whatever someone wants to pay for it!

The turbo looks clean, the carb unmolested (looks like still got the original tamper-proof screws and dashpot clamp) so could well be good!

End of the day - the box was replaced because the last one was shot. So the box on there is probably better than another 'unknown' engine.
