Is a T3 rebuild something I can DIY? What tools will I need, and where can I get a kit from (Iain?)

Looks like the one on my golf has seen better days, and I cant afford to just buy another.

Hey Alex, in one of the Mini Worlds, I can't recall wich one it was, but it seemed there was a DIY section on how to rebuild a T3 turbo and it got the kit from Owen Developments. I believe this is correct, others may know more...

discussed previously - not the best guide for a 'home rebuild' as it involved re-balancing...

Iain will sort you out a T3 kit i'm sure - in fact - who's going to do this for Alex and as a writeup for the maga7ine???

Is it something i can do? - I have a good camera, so if its something i can DIY, i'll happily rebuild mine with good photos all the way through... *happy*

I thought this was not necessary when using the same impellor and compressor as earlier. If a hybird ( ie. one of these swapped) then a balancing job would be needed....

I've done one before and its not that hard although it can be a bitch as everything is very tight.
I'll sort some kits out although not sure on timing with it being round crimbo.

No Rush. I think my golf one is OK after a bit of investigation - so i'd be rebuilding the mini one.. which is still off the road! lol!

okay iain has asked me to step into the fray in sorting out the turbo re-build kits seeing as he is never in the blooming country!! alright for some :)

so if anyone wants a T3 re-build kit then pm and i'll start a list and suggest a cut-off point datewise so i can order a batch-in

as alex pointed earlier in the post, £50 inc post to within the UK

Are there any guides to rebuilding a turbo? how hard is it? something a beginner could do with a bit of time and patience?
