Ive got this back plate made in carbon, just got to work out a really good way of threading it for chain cover bolts.
I seriously doubt it! |

I hope you got it cured at a higher temperature than it's going to see during running?

daves suggestion of rivinuts is all i can think of aswell, but you might have to 'sink' them in for a flush surface, and if its the same thickness as the std part, i can see this weakening it a fair bit. "Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun"

How about using captive nuts, these are riveted onto the plate. I'm no big fan of rivnuts as ive had so many slip when trying to undue them. Edited by Mirage on 18th Dec, 2005. |

How about making a plate out of steel, to the same thickess and dimensions as the original, and covering it in 'stick on' carbon fibre look plastic sheet?

Pre preg Carl. Its top notch and made by a formula 1 team by a mate who works there. It was baked at a very high temperature. It only weighs 60 odd grammes
I seriously doubt it! |

ok ,then itds up to the job, but you still have to get some kind of arrested females on there, you' are going to struggle for space at the back, up against the block. whatever you use its going to have to stick on the back somhow as you probably already know .

Yeah, surely saving 60g is just a matter of going and having a pretty decent turd before racing?

I do agree, but I must admit I hate the above statement. Of course you turd before racing, this is in addition :) On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

Whenever reliability or saftey is compromised by attempting to achieve lightweight, then you're playing a danerous game.

Exactly Nic, ive done the same and it occurs to me that every component is slightly stronger or bigger than neccessary. I have spent the last 4 years detailing every component on my car this equaits to hundreds of tiny jobs to get the overall weight down to 493 kilos.
I seriously doubt it! |
